Staer Sistemi in Energy Wise consortium sponsored by Cisco
Staer Systems is in the group of 15 Italians companies and research centers, of electronics and information technology sector, Cisco's involved in the project of developing a "single platform for managing energy consumption." The platform will allow energy managers and energy companies to take advantage of an integrated management of the energy profile of an energy administrative domain (macro urban area, district, region...), providing the tools necessary to the measure the correlation of data, the forecast consumption, the energy billing and purchasing.
Cisco EnergyWise is the communication model adopted. The companies involved work together to develop software modules and devices based on a shared and common business plan: smart meters, sensors and actuators, systems acquisition and protocol conversion (gateway), applications of artificial intelligence for consumer profiling, forecasting and trading of energy.
The platform components are developed according to the specifications of the Cisco EnergyWise communication model. The basis of this model is the assumption that the data network is an intelligent system able to acquire, adapt and aggregate information and present them to energy domain management systems.

The solution addresses in particular the energy profile management of energy macro urban areas (or "districts"), which in Cisco's vision, thanks to an advanced use of intelligence built into the network, will be the heart of a "smart & connected" society able to develop in a sustainable way for humans and environment
